Wunschgarten Drawing Workshop

Drawing is fun, and that applies to everyone. After the early childhood years, however, the carefree engagement with colours and shapes changes under the influence of performance pressure and a sense of competition. “Anette draws better than Vanessa,” but “Anette is also better at maths than at drawing.” Such statements leave immeasurable marks on our personalities, affect our future, and often label us in creative fields as “talented” or not. Research has long shown that activities pursued with passion and practiced over a long period often replace so-called talent – in some cases even surpass it. Long before scientific research, Aesop, in the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, provided an example of how initial advantages can be overturned.
From the very beginning, Wunschgarten has offered drawing workshops. The focus is on letting all kids enjoy the wonders of drawing – without judgement, without expectations. The motifs of their drawings are often later used as patterns for murals or for graphic products. This allows kids to experience how, for example, “irregular drawings” can become part of a whole picture, or how unexpected colours can fit perfectly in a new combination.
