Wunschgarten Murals
Those with less power are rarely welcome in the design process of our urban surroundings. Not only because of the desired security of cities, which can be provided by professionals like architects, but also because of a common view on aesthetics. Children, for example, might decorate the nursery garden wall, but the older they get, the less space is given to them. By the time they reach Wunschgarten’s target group age (7–13), they are practically left without a voice in their living surroundings. That is one reason why some teenagers start spraying illegally as soon as they can handle a spray can. IPek, as a street artist, has been fighting against this exclusion with her community murals for a long time. She incorporates this mission of empowering the next generation through bigger-scale artworks into Wunschgarten as well.
